Holiday Massage in Winnipeg: Christmas Eve to New Year's Day

Each Winnipeg clinic sets its own hours over Christmas and New Year's. Here's which days are holidays in Manitoba this year, what a holiday did to massage openings this fall, and how to find a time that works.

The Short Answer

• Christmas Day (Friday, December 25) and New Year's Day (Friday, January 1) are general holidays in Manitoba. Expect few openings on those days.
• Christmas Eve, Boxing Day and New Year's Eve aren't general holidays in Manitoba. Boxing Day is a Saturday this year.
• On Thanksgiving Monday, Winnipeg clinics had about a third as many massage openings as on a typical weekday.
• Most last minute openings appear less than a day ahead, so check the evening before and again that morning.

"General holiday" is Manitoba's name for a statutory holiday. The province lists them on its general holidays page. Boxing Day is a holiday in some provinces but not in Manitoba. Even on days that aren't holidays, each clinic decides its own hours.

How Many Openings a Holiday Has

Thanksgiving Monday, October 12, 2026, gives a rough idea. That day, Winnipeg clinics had 171 massage openings at 36 clinics. An average weekday that month had about 480 openings at about 93 clinics.

So the holiday had about a third of the usual openings, and fewer than half as many clinics had any time at all. That's close to a normal Saturday, which had 153 openings at 41 clinics. How to Find a Holiday Opening

• Look a day ahead. In October, most last minute openings appeared less than 24 hours before the start time. The tomorrow and today pages show only those days.
• For Saturday, December 26 and Sunday, December 27, the this weekend page shows both days. Weekends have fewer openings than weekdays, so book the first time that fits.
• Go midday if you can. Most openings start between 10 AM and 3 PM, and evenings are scarce on any day.
• If nothing fits, try a different appointment length or a wider area.

If Your Benefits Reset on January 1

If your plan resets on January 1, a massage on December 31 still counts toward this year. Christmas Day falls on a Friday, so December 25 to 27 are three quieter days in a row, and it's easier to book earlier in the month.
